When it comes to this fantasy art business, Jessica's second favorite thing to do (other than paint) is to enjoy the work of other artists working in this genre. In 2006, she had an idea to hold a contest for amateur, budding fantasy artists...and so was born our annual art contest. The winner of the annual contest receives a free Limited Edition Jessica Galbreth art book, plus a $100 gift certificate to Dick Blick art supplies, courtesy of Jessica herself. With this contest, Jessica hopes to give an emerging fantasy artist each year, the recognition, the encouragement and the kudos they deserve and need to prompt them to continue this path with their art and to follow their dreams. When Jessica first got started herself, if it wasn't for a few key people giving her advice and praise, she may well have never gotten as much accomplished as she has today. This is her way of "paying it forward" so to speak.
THE ART CONTEST RULES
Please follow these exactly and carefully, as not following them may cause your entry to be disqualified or not received at all in the first place.
1) Your entry must be fantasy, mythological, goddess, magical or faery related. Of course you will certainly have your own style, we would like all entries to fit this general subject.
2) Your entry must correspond to the annual theme Jessica has designated below. To keep things interesting, Jessica will choose a theme each year (i.e. Mermaids, Gothic, Mystical Places, Goddesses, etc.)
3) Entries in the following mediums will be accepted: watercolor, acrylic, oils or any other artist paints, drawing with pencil, charcoal, pen, ink, etc., sculpture (including polymer clay, stone carving, etc.), and digital painting using Photoshop or other on-line software programs.
4) Your entry should be your own creation. It is okay to be inspired by other artists, because all of us are. Just make it your own please.
5) You may submit only ONE entry per year, so please wait until you're finished and satisfied. We will not accept modifications or re-entries, and any doing so will disqualify you, so be sure before sending!
6) You must be 16 years of age or older to enter. We love young artists, but want to keep this contest to 16 and up please.
7) You MUST submit your entry in the following format exactly!...
a) Upload a photo or scan of your entry to YOUR server or a free server of some sort.
Do NOT attach the image to your e-mail to us or we will delete it immediately for fear of opening a virus.
b) Once uploaded, compose an e-mail with the following information:
* Your full, legal name
* Your full mailing address
* Your e-mail address
* Your phone number
* Your date of birth
* The title of your entry piece
* The size and medium of your entry piece
* The URL to the image of your piece, which you've uploaded to your own server
c) Once you've completed your e-mail and checked for errors, send it along to us ONCE only at: enchantedart@aol.com
IMPORTANT! Please do not e-mail us asking about your submission.
We just don't have the time to respond to everyone, though we promise to keep your entry very safe. You will remain the copyright owner of your piece, and if you are chosen as the winner, your piece will be featured here along with a write up about you and your art.
