One last comment. The brutal slaying of cats and dogs of their pelts for profit continues. The countries allowing this horrible crime are Russia, China and the Phillipines. I am asking my readers to write their elected representatives immediately to invoke trade sanctions against these countries until these practices are stopped. Mankind's in-humanity is only as bad as mankind allows it to continue. Help stop this brutal horrible murder of what we consider family members and pets.

Over 120,000 Horse Are Being Slaughtered Annually In The U.S.
And Shipped Overseas For Human Consumption

Last year, over 120,000 healthy American horses were slaughtered and they are not old crippled or blind horses. (It is against federal law to ship a blind or crippled horse). The slaughter industry will not take old skinny horses. The horses being slaughtered range in age from six months to thirteen years of age.
Why Are They Being Slaughtered?
American horses are being slaughtered in three foreign owned slaughter houses in Ilinois and Texas. Their meat is being shipped overseas as a delicacy for the Italians, French, Japanese and other countries overseas.

Polls across America show that 74%-90% of people are opposed to horses being slaughtered.

Currently there are bills in the House (HR 503) and Senate (S 1915) that would ban the slaughter of horses for human consumption and the transport of horseflesh or live horses out of the country for the purpose of slaughter. HR 503 currently has 134 cosponsors.

The Senate version of The American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act (S1915) was introduced on Wednesday 26, of October and currently has 10 cosponsors.

Horse slaughter promotes theft, neglect, abuse and lowers the value of horses in general.

CATS AND DOGS BEING KILLED FOR FUR
URGENT APPEAL TO STOP THIS SLAUGHTER

Cats and dogs are being bred in countries such as China, Russia, Phillipines and Thailand for their fur. They are being killed brutally, often severing a vein in the stomuch as they are skinned alive. This is done to not damage the fur. These pelts are then being sold for the production of fur coats, fur trim around the neck of coats and in toys. Yes toys. When you purchased toys this Christmas for your children with fur, that fur on that toy may very well be the fur from a cat or dog brutally killed in one of these countries for profit. The argument is that the people in these countries are simply trying to make a living. That this is a way of life for them because they don't view cats or dogs as we do, as pets. In several of these countries they actually raise and "eat" these innocent animals for food. I'm sorry but are we still living in the middle ages? This is un-civilized and barbaric.

I urge my readers to BOYCOTT all products made in the following countries, CHINA, RUSSIA, PHILLIPINES and THAILAND until these practices are stopped by authorities in these counties. The government authorities need to immediately ban these practices and make it a crime to raise and kill such animals for profit or for eating. I call upon you my readers, if you have any ounce of human compassion, whether you like cats or dogs or not, please write your elected officials in Washington demanding an immediate ban on all trade from any of these countries until these practices are stopped. Demand that laws be passed quickly to make it a crime with heavy fines and jail sentences for the purchase of any fur from cats or dogs for the production of clothes, toys or any other product. Mankind's inhumanity is only as bad as mankind allows it. If you have any sense of what is right or wrong, you will demand that these practices are stopped immediately. Please do something today to stop this slaughter of innocent animals that we in the civilized world treat as family members. You can use my link on my website to find your elected representatives in Washington to write. There presently is a bill in both Houses to pass a federal law making this a criminal offense in the United States and to ban the imports of such products into the United States. Please do something today! As a matter of fact, start a chain email letter to your friends, telling them about this and asking them to boycott products made from these countries and to write their Congressmen. The only way to get these atrocities stopped is to hit them in their pocketbooks.

The House of Representatives is scheduled to vote next week on a bill that would further President Bush's faith-based program for government-funded religion. The bill would allow organizations that receive our tax dollars to discriminate against employees on the basis of their religion. An amendment to restore civil rights protections is expected to be introduced by Rep. Bobby Scott of Virginia. This civil rights amendment should be supported.

The proposed legislation would jeopardize civil rights and religious freedom because it would roll back protection against discrimination or misuse of government funds by religious organizations. For the first time ever, it would allow religious organizations involved in federal job training programs to discriminate according to religion when hiring staff for these taxpayer-funded services.

Non-profits -- whether religious or secular -- that provide taxpayer-funded services currently need to obey federal hiring guidelines. Under this proposal, religious non-profits would be able to hire individuals only from their particular regligion to provide thse taxpayer-funded services. For example, a highly qualified social worker might be rejected because she "wasn't the right kind of Christian" to work on a job training program.

Last Congress, similar attempts at religious discrimination were beaten back thanks to the emails and letters sent in to Congressman. We need to let Congress know that we are still standing strong against religious discrimination and do not want this legislation to pass unless critical civil rights protections are restored.
