University of Michigan Digital Library
http://www.hti.umich.edu/e/endc/
Sponsored by the United Nations in 1962, the Conference of the Eighteen-Nation Committee on Disarmament attempted to establish a dialogue between the United States and the Soviet Union at the height of the Cold War. In addition to disarmament, the ENDC considered confidence-building measures and control of nuclear tests. This collection includes the verbatim transcripts of its meetings.

Persian Dinner Customs World at Your Table : Episode FLWYT-107 -- (Below) More Projects »
The Persian guests sit at the finished dinner table to start the feast.
Like many other cultures, Persians have a great reverence and appreciation for their guests. For example, at a Persian dinner party, it's customary for the host to thank each guest for his presence. Also, the host or hostess should never sit at the head of the table, instead staying in the background making sure their guests have everything they need and are having a good time. These customs originated in ancient times.
When people attended a traditional Persian gathering, the best food was always reserved for the guest, who was considered a gift from god. To this day, when at a traditional Persian celebration or dinner party, it's not unusual to see the host on his or her feet most of the time. This is because no host may sit while a guest is standing.
