[My comment from experience: Although the Humane Society says they are a no kill agency. This is not true. I had the kittens with Ringworm - fungus. And everyone was saying to get rid of them and end my difficulties by giving them to the HS. Luckily I asked questions. They keep healthy animals till they find a home. They do not offer medical help. Thus "WE HUMANELY PUT THEM TO SLEEP." That was the one in Ft. Lauderdale. If they come in sick they are killed. Even for a fungus. So you tell me what I did. Of course I, with limited funds, and a wonderful vet, was able to care for them and now they are very healthy and active to live their lives out with ME! So in a way, although I know a group I hate from my experience with them, I would sooner give an animal to a REAL NO KILL group.
When Rich lost my lovie, I did get two kittens from them, and they turned out to be ill. Which happens from being exposed to others. Aren't they lucky I got them before it showed up in their custody! And they supported them the whole time that the VCA charged over $70 for each kitten, each visit for upper respitory ailments and coxcidia, which the HS paid for! So they are good not bad. There are SO many unwanted animals they do not waste their funding on SICK ones.
Though watching Animal Control and Humane Society shows on Amimal Planet, they do care for and recover starved and ill animals in places like LA, TX, and NY. So what is it with FL?]
