Real Stories of First Contact
On Thanksgiving, you hear a lot of stories about first contact between Europeans and Native Americans on the East Coast. Most of the stories are from a non-native perspective and gloss over details that don't fit in to the mainstream narrative.
This Thanksgiving, tune in and hear stories about early contact from the Native perspective and how the tribes of the East Coast have been fighting to keep their culture and stories alive ever since.
Jamestown 2007: The Native American Connection tells the story of the first contact in 1607 including the extermination of 20 tribes at the hands of the English settlers during the first 100 years of settlement.
Monacan Voices: True History of First Contact & the Paper Genocide of Virginia Indians has tribal members from Eastern nations share the history and culture of their people; past present and future.
We'll webcast these programs back to back during the following times:

11/22/07: 5-7am, 11am-1pm and 5-7pm ET
11/26/07: 5-7am, 11am-1pm and 5-7pm ET
