"The NSU Glass Garden" by Dale Chihuly

On Thursday, April 26, 2007, at a private, invitation-only gala, “The NSU Glass Garden” by Dale Chihuly will be unveiled in the atrium of the Alvin Sherman Library. Then, beginning April 27th, everyone is invited to come to the Alvin Sherman Library to view and enjoy this beautiful one-of-a-kind glass sculpture and help us “Celebrate Chihuly at NSU.”

The celebration, April 25-29, will include a variety of programs and events for art lovers of all ages including
glassblowing demonstrations, an exhibit, art and craft projects, storytimes, and more. We will even have a special activity where artists of all ages from children to adults can submit their artwork and possibly see it turned into glass. Get more details about “You Design It, We Make It.”

Dale Chihuly is an internationally renowned artist who has created innovative and exquisite large-scale blown glass works for more than 30 years. Learn more about the sculpture and the artist.

“The NSU Glass Garden” was made possible by the Circle of Friends and
generous contributors. It is the vision of the Circle of Friends to make the Alvin Sherman Library a venue that provides exposure to world class art that patrons might not otherwise have. Learn more about Creating a Visual Legacy.

My sister-in-law wrote: Years ago Joe and I had the opportunity to visit one of Chihuly's shops in Seattle, watch the glass blowing up close, etc. It was awesome! In Tacoma we have a Glass Musuem dedicated mainly to his work. With live demos. I've always wanted to try it.
