I have been away. Laptop was run over by a car.
I have been busy and have had few people to know what I have been through. Sigh.
Email sent to friends last Wednesday, my birthday, 4/11.
Subject: My best friend was run over by a car yesterday. [Yes, I wanted this to be opened.]
Before you panic, not a two legged one.
Greetings. The sad news is about my computer.
Rich said a few years ago that I loved it most (first my 10 kids) but I said it was what I can do & learn with it that I love most. I do tend to have separation anxiety when I cannot get onto it.
But I am actually handling this pretty well...
I tend to lean my laptop on the car when I am unloading from the store.
Rich thought he would drive closer to the back of the house.
I came back for more stuff and found my laptop under the tire. It made a crunch noise when he drove off it. I checked it and it booted up but later only a black screen.
Today [last Wed, as it was run over on Tues] I took it to who Dina recommended. As I highly doubt this is covered by insurance, I have put a deposit on it, though we don't hear the hard drive working. They will let me know if he can put it on my external drive.
I was with Marcy and though I spend so much of my life on it, especially when I cannot sleep, and you all know how much time that is, and she asked if I had a (2 legged) child and he/she dropped it out of a 3 story window, what would I do? Kill the kid! No Like all things it has a time to be with me. And all things end to begin new ventures.
I was in the process of learning how to use the 80G external drive I have. For as good a surfer I am I am only learning to be a geek. And I have not been fast enough to follow through with what I am "told" to do, especially I know 5 people who lost their hard drives recently. Except for my pictures and my iTunes which has to be on that computer to run my iPod, which I hand entered 8G/60G = over 2,000 songs and meditations, and lessons, photos etc.
I don't have a problem with if he cannot fix or retrieve the hard drive,
Sigh...
Luckily there is so much in my calendar that you will not notice that I am not entering more
Until then I will be here at KMart for a short time online, they have a timer. Or I will get to Nova SEU where I have no time limit but they restrict what I can do.
Hey I think I handled this pretty good after the first shock! I have to think of what is important and Rich is not well. It was not done on purpose, of course not. No that is my humor cause even though I loose what I love I have to look at things the best I can.
So don't feel like I am neglecting you if I don't get your emails. You know why.
If I have your # in my phone you can try to call, though you know my phone doesn't like the metal in my ear. So I will try my best to get to a host computer to check my emails and things to do....
You know me? Things happen. And we change with what comes our way or that which does not work out... the way we would like.

At first check it started fine. But later there was only a black screen. I even think if I didn't have an adapter in the bag for plugging into the car battery, it would not have had any damage at all!
But the man who my friend recommended me said he takes off his hat to Toshibia, as it is the only computer that he has seen, as others have been run over also, that survived! All I need is to replace the inverter, which makes the screen show what I have on my computer. So first thing I am doing when I get it back is put every thing on the external hard drive that I was trying to get someone to tell me how to use! I have almost 1/2 of my memory taken up, 43 Gigs of stuff to go on the 80 Gig drive. And all I thought I cared about was my photos and my iTunes! Which I must have to alter my iPod.
I have 5 of my friends who said they have lost recently their hard drives. So I was thinking it would be a good idea. Well this will fix me for waiting for others ... and just do it! That was just too close!
I don't have everything with me to share but I will try to do some... Love LI.
